Shadowrocket Troubleshooting
Starting with App Store verification, this guide covers purchase restoration, first launch, importing existing subscriptions, Global Routing, and connection issues. Interface labels are shown exactly as they appear in Shadowrocket.
Official listing and purchase
Verify the App Store product page, purchase history, account region, and compatible devices. Pricing and system requirements are determined by the current App Store listing.
How can I verify the official Shadowrocket listing on the App Store?
Open Shadowrocket’s App Store product page and verify the product name, developer Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and app ID 932747118. You can confirm the app ID from id932747118 in the product page URL; the icon should also match the official icon shown on the product page. Check the current App Store page for pricing, compatible devices, and system requirements.
What should I do if I can’t find Shadowrocket in the App Store?
Use this site’s download guide to open the only official App Store product page instead of relying solely on keyword search. If the page says the app is unavailable in your storefront, check your Apple Account country or region and use only Apple’s account settings path for Country/Region. Availability, payment methods, and switching requirements vary by storefront and are determined by Apple’s page.
How is Shadowrocket priced?
Shadowrocket is a paid App Store app sold as a one-time purchase. The US storefront lists it at approximately $2.99; the actual amount appears in the current App Store storefront in local currency and should be confirmed on the purchase screen. Buying the app does not include a proxy service plan; you still need to use your own subscription or server details.
Do I need to buy Shadowrocket again after switching to a new iPhone?
You can usually sign in on the new iPhone with the Apple Account used for the original purchase, then redownload Shadowrocket from App Store purchase history or its product page. If the page still shows a purchase button, check that the account used for Media & Purchases, storefront region, and purchase history match. Do not pay twice; rely on the App Store for the final purchase status.
Can I get Shadowrocket on Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?
Check the compatibility section on the same Shadowrocket App Store product page to see whether these devices are supported. Interfaces and feature availability may differ by device. Support for the current device, whether the purchase is shared, and system requirements are determined by the App Store listing; that product page remains the acquisition entry point.
Installation and first launch
Covers the first-launch sequence on iPhone and iPad, VPN configuration authorization, interface sections, and configuration handling after reinstalling.
What should I do the first time I open Shadowrocket on iPhone?
Do not turn on the connection immediately after the first launch. In Home, confirm that your own subscription or server details have been imported, select the server you want to use, and then check Global Routing. The first time you enable the main switch, the system will ask to add a VPN configuration. Complete system authentication, return to Shadowrocket, and confirm the switch state and connection message.
Can I install and use Shadowrocket on iPad?
Open the same product page in the iPad App Store and check its compatibility section and system requirements. With the original purchasing account, the App Store identifies your purchase status. Some lists, sidebars, and dialogs may appear in different locations on iPadOS, but names such as Home, Config, Global Routing, Subscribe, and Connectivity Test remain the same.
Why does VPN configuration authorization appear on the first connection?
Shadowrocket uses the VPN configuration interface provided by Apple to manage network traffic, so a system authorization prompt appears when the connection is enabled for the first time. Confirm that the prompt follows your deliberate action on Shadowrocket’s main switch, then complete the requested verification. If authorization was denied, check the VPN configuration status in system settings and try again in the app.
The Shadowrocket interface is in English. How do the common sections map to their functions?
Identify common sections by function: Home selects a server and controls the connection; Config manages configurations and rules; Settings contains general preferences; Subscribe manages existing subscriptions; Add Server is for entering server details manually; and Connectivity Test checks network reachability. Enter protocol names and field values exactly as provided by the service provider.
Will my previous configuration return automatically after reinstalling?
App Store purchase history restores the app purchase status only; it does not guarantee that in-app subscriptions, servers, or rule configurations will return automatically. Before reinstalling or changing devices, save necessary settings using the export options currently provided by Shadowrocket, and keep your own subscription URLs and server parameters secure. Verify each item after restoring.
Subscription and server import
These steps assume that you already have your own subscription URL or server details. Focus on checking URL completeness, protocol type, and the correspondence between fields.
What should I check first if importing an existing subscription fails?
First confirm that the subscription URL is complete and still valid, with no spaces, line breaks, or missing characters introduced during copying. Open it in a browser to check whether it returns content normally, then return to Subscribe in Shadowrocket and add it again. If a format error appears, ask the original service provider whether the subscription supports Shadowrocket. Do not edit the token or protocol fields yourself.
How do I manually add existing server details?
In Home, open Add Server, select the protocol that matches your existing details, and fill in the address, port, password, or identity fields one by one. Shadowsocks, VMess, VLESS, Trojan, HTTP, SOCKS5, WireGuard, and Hysteria2 use different fields and must not be mixed. Before saving, check the port, encryption method, TLS, and transport settings character by character.
Why didn’t the server list change after updating a subscription?
In Subscribe, first confirm that you updated the correct subscription and watch for network or format messages during the update. An unchanged list may mean the server-side content has not changed, or that the subscription URL has expired or returned invalid content. Leave and reopen the list to check its update time. If the issue persists, ask the original service provider to inspect the subscription response.
What should I do if no server appears after scanning a QR code?
After using Scan QR Code, confirm that the QR code contains server-sharing information or a subscription URL recognized by Shadowrocket. If the result is ordinary text, an incomplete web address, or missing parameters, the app may not create a server entry. Try importing the complete content by copying it, then compare each item with the original details.
How should I organize duplicate servers from multiple subscriptions?
In Subscribe, identify the purpose of each subscription by its source before updating, so you do not add the same URL repeatedly. After updating, compare server names, addresses, ports, and protocols to identify duplicates, then remove entries that are expired or confirmed unnecessary. Keep the original subscription URLs while organizing, so you can identify an entry’s source if something is deleted by mistake.
Rule-based routing and troubleshooting
Locate issues in order: base network, server reachability, Global Routing, Config rules, and system status. Avoid changing several settings at once.
How should I choose Config, Proxy, or Direct in Global Routing?
Config evaluates traffic against the rules in the current configuration file and is suitable when you need rules such as DOMAIN-SUFFIX, GEOIP, IP-CIDR, and FINAL. Proxy sends traffic through the proxy policy and is mainly useful for temporary testing. Direct connects traffic directly. For everyday use, start with Config and troubleshoot based on the rule that matches.
How do I troubleshoot the Shadowrocket main switch when it won’t turn on?
First confirm that Home has a selected server with a complete address, port, and protocol configuration. Then check for conflicts in the VPN configuration under system settings and trigger system authorization again. If the switch turns on briefly and then turns off, use Connectivity Test to check server reachability, then verify the device time and network status.
What should I do when it says connected but webpages won’t open?
Temporarily switch Global Routing to Direct and confirm that the current Wi-Fi or cellular network can access webpages on its own. Then switch back to Config and check the selected server’s Connectivity Test result. If only some domains fail, inspect the rule order, FINAL policy, and DNS settings in Config. If everything fails, first verify the server parameters and validity.
What does a timeout in Connectivity Test mean?
A timeout means the target connection did not complete within the permitted time during testing; it does not identify a single specific fault. Check the current base network, server address and port, protocol type, TLS or transport parameters, and device system time in order. Test over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks to determine whether the issue is local connectivity or your existing server configuration.
How should I investigate noticeable battery drain while using Shadowrocket?
Check Shadowrocket’s foreground and background usage in the system battery report. Then check whether On Demand is repeatedly triggering connections, the log level is too high, subscription updates are too frequent, or the current server is repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting. Change one setting at a time and observe a complete usage cycle so the cause can be isolated.
